Soccer

Soccer has been keeping us busy lately. Gordon enjoys playing and I think it is good for him. He is still loving school.

Other things we have been up to include remodeling our bathroom. I will show pictures when it is all done. We are almost there.

This week we are supposed to have our wood floors refinished and then we are going to remodel the kitchen; get new marble counter-tops, a new cook-top and a new microwave, new sink, new lighting, maybe some paint. All of the plans and preparation for these things have been keeping me super busy. I can't wait until it is all done. It is going to be so nice.

Exciting News

My baby brother Jason received his mission call on Friday. He has been called to serve in the Culiacan, Mexico Mission. He goes into the MTC on December 31, 2008. I can hardly believe that my baby brother is old enough to go on a mission! But I am so excited and proud of him.

Right before he opened his call we all predicted where we thought he might go and guess who called it! Me! I said Mexico and sure enough it was Mexico! It was just a lucky guess but I did have a feeling that he would have to learn another language and would probably go somewhere outside the US!

A Crazy few days

Here is what is left of our tree.

Things around here have been a little crazy lately. Monday it was very stormy and we had a micro-burst of wind that knocked down one of the trees in our front yard. The tree flew onto the road totally blocking it. Keni had to work so it was just me and my kids at home. Luckily, I was able to get a hold of some of my uncles, cousins and neighbors and they were able to come help move the tree. I guess it is good that it happened on a Holiday. I think there was less traffic going up and down the canyon and there were a lot of men around to help out. So, that was Monday.

Tuesday was Ella's first day of preschool. She did great and had a wonderful time. I knew she would.

Tuesday afternoon I had to pick up Gordon and the neighbor kids down by the bridge where the bus drops them off. As I was arriving, all of the sudden, I see a 4-wheeler go zooming backwards really fast off the edge of the road and down the river bank. I was so scared. I didn't know who was on the 4-wheeler. I drove up quickly and jumped out of the car and ran to the edge of the river bank. It was one of the 13 year olds from my Sunday school class. He was standing in the river. The 4-wheeler was right at the edge of the water, right side up. I don't know if he rolled it or what. I rushed down to him. He was standing up and moving around. The poor kid was so scared. He kept saying, "this is a dream, I know it is a dream. My dad is going to kill me. Please tell me this is a dream." I tried to calm him down and help him climb up the steep slope back onto the road. Another mom who had come to pick up her kids called his parents and I had him sit in my car unto they came. I was just so thankful that he seemed okay. When I saw it happen I didn't know what to expect. I thought he might be dead or really really hurt.

I found out this morning that he was hurt much worse than I thought. ( I thought he just had some nasty scrapes and bruises and a bad bump on his head) Apparently he broke a few little bones in his back and had a concussion. He is going to be okay though. I was trying to help but now I don't know if I did the right thing. Maybe I shouldn't have had him move at all. But, because he was up on his feet and moving when I got to him, I thought he was okay. Backs are just so scary. I am just so grateful that he is okay. It could have been so much worse. I think I am still in shock about it a little bit. Especially, after what I found out today.

So, if that wasn't enough after his parents came and got him I drove home, dropping off kids on the way. I pulled into our garage and went to get Jace out of his carseat. While I am doing this Ella got out of the car on her own and went into the house. When Gordon, Jace and I get to the backdoor it is locked. Ella had gone in and locked it behind her. And she couldn't UNLOCK it!! For several minutes I am trying to talk to her through the door trying to get her to unlock the door. All of the other doors are locked too and I don't have a key. After a while it is apparent that she can't unlock it so I try to think of how else we can get in. I have her go and try to open a window that faces the backyard. Our windows have a handle crank that you use to roll them open. I have seen her close them before so I thought she might be able to open them too. The windows in the back are closed too tightly though and she can't open them. So, then I tell her to try the windows in the front. Finally she is able to get one of the dining room windows open. I am able to pop out the screen and to lift Gordon up through the window and into the house. He is then able to unlock the front door!

Princess Academy

On Saturday Ella & I had a mother-daughter date. We went to the Princess Academy, an event put on by the Payson Royalty to raise money for the Miss Utah pageant. Miss Payson (Chelsea Cooper) is my cousin. We had a wonderful time. We both dressed up as princesses, which Ella enjoyed immensely. At the Princess Academy we took pictures with Chelsea, then we went on a carriage ride (driven by Uncle Wade).

After that we visited the Fairy God Mother and took pictures with her. Next, all the little princesses got their nails painted.

Then we colored a princess picture and went on another carriage ride (Ella got to help drive this time)!

This is a picture on all of the Oldham girls that were there.

We then ate a little lunch and watched the Payson Royalty perform. It was such a fun day. I loved spending it with my girl.

This is a video of the Princess Parade. They had the girls walk and twirl and wave across the stage.

I missed him today

The 1st day of 1st grade.

I missed snuggling in the morning in my bed while watching cartoons.
I missed being asked who my favorite Pokeman is?
I missed having someone to help Ella put her seatbelt on.
I missed those big bright eyes.
I missed hearing him say "OOOKAY!" like Theodore from Alvin & the Chipmunks.
I missed his laugh.
I missed him reminding us to say prayer for lunch.
I missed my gofer.
I missed my friend.
I missed my boy.

1st grade as he used to say, "takes for a long day!"

Wild Child

Last night I gave Jace a bath and then got him into his pajamas. Ella was in the shower and I went to get her towel. When I got back, guess who had decided to join her fully clothed and all! He was soaked from head to toe and loving it! I didn't get a picture of him soaked. The picture above is from another day. He's a wild one!
